  3. Types of Group • Friends of the Practice • Selected on the basis of Practice Demographics • Critical volunteers

  4. Making it work • Small amounts of constructive effort by members • Minimum administration overheads • Meetings of a manageable size • Subject matter to be highly targeted • A clear timetabled programme

  5. Providing new or improved services • Input from patients • Central edict • Staff ideas and preferences

  6. Other possibilities • Contribution to website • Survey analysis • Fund raising • Informal gatherings

  7. Care Quality Commission Edict • Improved and new services at each Individual Practice • Input to improved and new services for the Community • Get rid of unnecessary services

  8. Others with Input to New and Improved Service • Individual Health Professionals • SWF Locality Group • Mid Essex Commissioning Group • Healthcare Providers • Central Government (NHS)

  9. Patients’ Input • Under the auspices of Healthcare 2000 • This Working Group of PPG Representatives will exchange ideas about health needs for the Area from a Patient Perspective • These ideas will be fed to the Locality Group and subsequently, if agreed, become services commissioned

  10. The Working Group – Possible Remit • Review current services in SWF – can they be improved? • Identify new services for SWF • Learn about how PPG works in each others Practice • Understand what works in other Practices
