An Advent Assembly
A Living Giving Drink!
Turning water into juice!
This is one part of Manila in the Philippines
It is a slum called Tondo
Here life for many people is hard
There are lots of diseases
The Canossian Sisters in Tondo
The Sisters are missionaries
They believe that Jesus was sent as a gift by God
They use their own gift of love and friendship to help save lives
Violet lives in Tondo
She is 12 years old
Caring for all the family
If one member of the family gets ill then all must be looked after
The Sisters in Tondo provide medicine and food to help them all
There are many people to help
This means that it gets very expensive
The Sisters did not have enough money to help all the people that need it
The Sisters might not have a lot of money but they did have lots of Calamansi fruit
They made it into a drink to sell!!
We all have gifts we can share
The gift love and friendship from the Sisters in Tondo has helped many people
The gift of the Calamansi fruit has also helped!
First Candle: We pray for the Canossian Sisters in Manila, in the Philippines. May they continue to love and help the poor.
Second candle: We pray for all the children who will not receive any presents this Christmas. May they always know the love of Jesus
Third candle: We pray this Advent for those who have not yet heard the story of Jesus and his love for all children. May the Church be blessed with missionaries to help the poor
Fourth candle: Let us pray for each other. We pray we all use the gifts given to us, and the skills we have learnt at school to help others. May we love one another like Jesus loves us.
