  1. BARNARDO’S The Barnardo’s was set up in 1866 by a man called Dr. Thomas John Barnardo.

  2. How does Barnardo’s help people? • Barnardo’s transform the lives of the most vulnerable children across the UK through the work of our services, campaigning and research expertise. • Barnardo’s are also there to provide a range of local support, counselling, fostering, adoption, education, residential and training services for more than 100,000 children, young people and their families. • Barnardo's raises money for its work with children and young people through its chain of high street and local retail shops. As well as second-hand stores across the UK, Barnardo's also has a network of shops dedicated to selling vintage clothing, books, shoes and furniture, as well as boutiques, bridal wear shops and dress agencies.

  3. Facts : • Thomas Barnardo began his work with homeless children in the East End of London in 1866. His vision was that children deserved the best start in life and that vision lives on today through the work of the four different charities around the globe. Thomas Barnardos’

  4. Dalton Preedy Success story Teenager Dalton Preedy is full of praise for the ‘Revolutions’ service after it helped him to turn his life around. The 16-year-old, from Tewkesbury, enjoyed working with his hands and hoped to become a motor mechanic. He enrolled on a college course but it wasn’t what he expected and he didn’t enjoy it. He fell out of education and spent his days hanging around with friends instead. However, when he heard about the new ‘Revolutions’ service, a service dedicated to engaging with young people who are at risk of exclusion or are excluded, he jumped at the chance to try something more practical than a normal training course.

  5. What would happen if my charity didn’t exist? If my charity did not exist there would be tons of poor, troubled, sad, helpless children, teenagers and adults that are all over the streets trying to stay alive for as long as possible, trying to eat and drink but not being able to get proper help, if this charity was not here the popularity for poverty would definitely increase massively, and we would be walking past more and more children in danger.

  6. Link I think Link was brave because he got treated appallingly by his mums boyfriend, although he made himself homeless he done it for a good cause. If he was still in the house with his family he would’ve probably got hurt whilst he was there with these horrible bullies. If I was him I would have done the same or try to contact family members, but if I didn’t get any contact I would’ve made myself homeless as well. I look up to Link as someone that really went through a horrible, traumatising time with the people who are meant to be his family, and his own blood e.g. his mum chose her boyfriend over the relationship with her own son.
