  3. nzi's Lounge. LINZI‘S LOUNGE Linzi's Lounge is an interview based programme, talking to the people of influence, the artists, activists and those influencing the path of Australia's GLBT community. PrideTV also sees this programme as an archive of our community now and into the future, copies will be made available the the Gay and Lesbian Archives for future reference. Linzi Kurileff who has extensive experience in gay media: BENT.TV, JOY and MC of many community fundraisers and other events, will host each programme bringing her inimitable style and cheek to each interview. The format is simple. Each week, Linzi will interview guests on her lounge about their life, influences, background and drive that makes them give so much time to the GLBT community and hopefully, provide a few laughs along the way! Each programme runs 30mins including intro and outro, with an ad break every 7 minutes. For our sponsors, this allows three opportunities of product exposure on each programme to a broad and diverse audience.

  4. AUSTRALIAN GAYS AT A GLANCE • According to the 2011 Census, there were around 33,700 same-sex couples in Australia, with 17,600 male same-sex couples and 16,100 female same-sex couples. • The number of same-sex couples in Australia counted in the Census has risen significantly in recent years, with a 32 per cent increase in the five years since 2006. In the 15 years between 1996 and 2011, the number of same-sex couples more than tripled. The increasing number of people identified as being in a same-sex relationship may reflect growing social acceptance. There may also be increased awareness that data about same-sex couples is made available from the Census, giving more reason for same-sex couples to be open about the nature of their relationship and willing to supply this information.

  5. AUSTRALIAN GAYS AT A GLANCE cont’d • The 2011 Census counted 6,300 children living in same-sex couple families, up from 3,400 in 2001. Children in same-sex couple families make up only one in a thousand of all children in couple families (0.1 per cent). The vast majority of these children (89 per cent) were in female same-sex couple families. • People in same-sex couples tend to be more highly educated than people in opposite-sex couples. In 2011, 42 per cent of people in same-sex couples had a Bachelor degree or higher qualification, compared with 23 per cent of people in opposite-sex couples. In every five year age group, people in same-sex couples were more likely than those in opposite-sex couples to report having a Bachelor degree or above. • In 2011, 2.3 per cent of people in same-sex couples had a Doctoral degree, compared with 0.9 per cent of people in opposite-sex couples. - Source: ABS
