He explains her death in the respectful way that he has described her battle with illness. He wants the reader to know how brave she was. Nothing left to hold her life … dwindling life. This is the point where her friends have arrived to help her sort through her work. It signifies that she is making the last arrangements before her death. The poet opens by telling the reader that Lesley is bedridden. It is sensitive because he doesn’t go into gory detail about her health. Could also use the painkillers quote here to show she is at the point where she is now fighting death off.
