  1. ROADMAP OF IBS By: Roshazita Che Amat

  2. INTRODUCTION IBS Roadmap 2003-2010 • 2003; CIDB recognized then the levels of quality, productivity, safety and excessive reliance on unskilled foreign workers, the state of local construction industry was not in line with the future development of Malaysia. • Before 2003; government promote used IBS as an alternative to conventional construction but not much headway. • Then CIDB redesigned the strategies and guidance from the IBS Steering Committee, formulated roadmap based on 5-M strategy.

  3. MANPOWER MANAGEMENTPROCESSESMETHODS MATERIALCOMPONENTSMACHINES MARKETING MONETORY

  4. Target were based on 5-M in order to ensure the global competitiveness of the Malaysian construction industry through the use of IBS. IBS Roadmap Mid-Term Review • 2007; review using available data supplemented by the industry perceptions through a number of interviews with key industry decision makers. • It was ascertained from industry that 3 mains barriers to the further adoption of IBS regulatory approvals (Local Authorities, Bomba, etc.), consumer perceptions and professional advisors. • Taking account (above);Action Plan and a set of strategies to accelerate the implementation of IBS Roadmap.

  5. PELAKSANAAN IBS SKOR IBS ≥ 70%

  6. OBJECTIVES • Industry will choose IBS – guarantee better quality, productivity and safety, and sustainable construction. • Enforcement of use MC (Modular Coordination) through Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL) encourage standardization and subsequently increase the usage of IBS components. • With accreditation & certification activities on IBS standard components, companies and installer will be assured that low quality products are not marketed in the country as well as prevent the dumping of foreign products in Malaysia. • IBS will reduce wet-trades; gaining Ringgit currently remitted by fw & reducing social problem involving fw.

  7. IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES OUTSOURCING Adopt Results-Driven Approach Create demand Remove & Reduce Barriers Holistic Communications Participate in Industry Development Separate regulation From Development Segmented Approach Apply 80:20 Rule

  8. BENEFITS IBS COMPARE TO CONVENTIONAL • Prefabrication takes place at a centralized factory - reducing labour requirement at site. • Faster construction time because casting of precast element at factory and foundation work at site can occur simultaneously. This can dramatically reduce construction time with good coordination. • Flexibility in architectural design in order to minimize the monotony of repetitive facades. • Repetitive use of system formwork made up steel, aluminum, etc and scaffolding provides considerable cost savings.

  9. BENEFITS IBS COMPARE TO CONVENTIONAL • Construction operation is not affected by adverse weather condition because prefabricated component is done in a controlled environment . • Flexibility in the design of precast element as well as in construction so that different systems may produce their own unique prefabrication construction methods. • IBS component is higher quality of components through careful selection of materials, use of advanced technology and better quality control.

  10. PEMBINAAN KONVENSIONAL & PEMBINAAN SECARA IBS PERUNDING KONTRAKTOR PEMBEKAL SISTEM IBS

  11. DISADVANTAGES OF IBS Homework: Discuss 5 disadvantages of IBS.

  12. THANK YOU CO1: ABILITY TO DISCUSS THE CONCEPT OF IBS MODERN CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY.
