  2. Abstract This paper proposes Tablet counter machine base on image processing. A digital webcam creates an image of drug being dispensed. This image is displayed in standard RGB model. The original image will change to grayscale image. Then grayscale image will filtered for noise using a median filter and then using threshold we obtain a digital binary image of the pill being dispensed. The image is further processed using erosion and dilation. The actual number of drug in the image is determine by applying connected component labeling and centroid process. Our experiment used 6 mm. to 12 mm. samples with accurate results.

  5. Conclusion • Our Tablet counter show high accuracy and fast processing and counting. It was easy to relocate and simple to use. Two problems were encountered during the experiment. First, If pill were over lapping then digital processing techniques were not effective. This could be overcome by moving the over lapping pill. The process could count when pill were very close or even touching each other. Secondly due to the inexpensive digital webcam used we were unable to count pills smaller then 6 mm. a higher priced camera with better optics should correct this if needed.
