  2. 3.0 Students understand the relationship between whole numbers, simple fractions and decimals. 3.1 Compare fractions represented by drawings or concrete materials to show equivalency and to add and subtract simple fractions in context (e.g. 1/2 of a pizza is the same amount as 2/4 of another pizza that is the same size;  show that 3/8 is larger than 1/4). 3.2 Add and subtract simple fractions (e.g., determine that 1/8 + 3/8 is the same as 1/2). Standards

  3. Administer the pre-test .Don't panic it is only to see what you already know. Day 1

  4. You have just won a pot of gold.  However you can only choose a part of this pot.  What would you like to take home:  1/12 of the pot, 3/16 of the pot, 4/7 of the pot, 2/3 of the pot or 6/18 of the pot.  Choose wisely for it may make you rich or make you poor.Cash in your answer. Day 1

  5. 4. You will start with Introduction to Fractions. This will show you basic fractions. What a numerator and a denominator is.  5. After doing the introduction to fractions and you are comfortable with a fractions, start Comparing Fractions (<,>,=).   Make sure you read the examples on the red screen. Day 2

  6. Day 36. Equivalent Fractions Drill and Equivalent Fractions Game (Advanced). After this activity you will draw several examples  of equivalent fractions and share them with the class. You'll need paper and crayons. Day 47. After your teacher gives you a mini lesson you will do this worksheet so pay close attention.  Fraction of a Number  (Print out this worksheet) 8. Collect pictures from magazines and newspapers that display multiple objects or items. Laminate and use washable markers to show fractions.e.g., What fraction of the birds are flying? What fraction of the cars are in the parking lot?

  7. Day 59. Addition of Fractions and Subtracting Fractions.Make sure you read the examples on the red screen.

  8. Day 610. Play a game of war.  Have fun!!!! Don't forget that you have to say the fraction in order to get both strips.
