  3. CREDIBILITY SNA’S CREDIBILITY IS AT STAKE WITH STANDARDS

Eliminate “Time and Place” Rule – giving the Secretary of Agriculture the authority to regulate all foods and beverages • Apply the Dietary Guidelines to all foods and beverages sold on campus • Uniform national interpretation of Dietary Guidelines • Level playing field within the school on nutrition standards

  6. WHY UNIFORMITY ? • Kids need the same nutrients CA to SD to NY • Federal reimbursements are low—$2.47 for free—less than the cost of a latte • School food services need the revenue from competitive sales • A variety of state and local standards will increase costs for industry and school food services
