2. Genre • A Sports-Comedy • Has to have the right balance of both the genres of Comedy and Sport • Researched Sports filming techniques (fast paced), comedies (close ups to show facial expressions) and Sports Comedies (Blades of Glory)

3. Forms & Conventions YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS! • Uses: • Music to exaggerate a scene and situation • Slapstick sound effect • Impressions/Stereotypes of famous tennis players • Challenges: • The use of fast-paced scenes • The subject matter of Tennis isn’t a common theme for comedies • We had to make sure the film appealed to comedy fans who may have little knowledge of tennis

4. Research • Production company research (Dreamworks/ RedHour) • Created a target audience questionnaire • People believed character comedy aimed at 16-25 year olds • Told us our ideas would actually appeal to an audience of our age • Keep the storyline simple and focus on the comedy

Zoom out to an over the shoulder shot The Shoot • The tester shoot before the actual filming helped us a lot (Check-list) • What went well: • A good range of different types of shots • Good/Clear sound quality • Script plus a clear image of how each scene should look Filming on location at the Baseline Tennis Centre

8. The Final Result /Audience Feedback • Achieved the goal of making people laugh • People said it very funny • They believed the use of shots created comedy effect • The music also added comedy effect • Improvements they suggested were a better use of titles • The main title could have appeared on screen longer • The credits could have also been on longer

9. Movie Poster • Adobe Photoshop • Character Montage • Action-style poster following the convention of the comedy genre of exaggeration • Inspiration from the 1977 Star Wars Poster • The layout is clear providing enough information • If I could improve the poster I would have taken the photos of the cast in a proper studio with good lighting

10. Film Review • Adobe Photoshop • Research from other movie review magazines • To give a range of review writing I suggested points where the film could have been improved • The review provides enough information about the plot, directors and the genre for the audience to decide whether to see it or not • If I were to do this review again I would have taken a photo whilst filming instead of making one from the photos used on the poster

11. Movie Trailer • Adobe Premiere • Dramatic build up. The audience are expecting a tennis documentary • Trailer follows the fast-pace of the film • The first song suggests comedy whereas the second song follows the fast-paced feel • Only the basic plot is revealed in the trailer

12. The Blog • Posterous.com • Show the process of the idea being created eventually into the final film • Shows all the planning before filming • Problems we faced along the way • People’s opinions whilst we were editing which helped us improve the film
