  1. COMMON PROBLEMSWITH BATHROOM DESIGN WWW.THESCHOOLOFRENOVATING.COM……….………….................. ………….…………SHARE GENEROUSLY

  2. Poor Ventilation Evidence of this problem is common with evidence of mould on the bathroom walls and ceiling, particularly over the shower. The main cause is the lack of adequate ventilation and the best way to address it is to ensure you have openable windows but you also need to install an exhaust fan or a fan/light/heat lamp combo. 3. Poor Drainage (not enough falls) The bathroom floor must be on a gentle slope (1:10 gradient) from the highest point to the floor drain so that water does not escape out of the door or the shower. Generally it is the tiller’s job to ensure adequate fall but you can also facilitate the process but selecting floor tiles to a maximum size of 300mm square. 600mm square tiles look fantastic but are not appropriate for a small bathroom. 4. Inappropriate Materials Materials in the bathroom need to be able to stand up to moisture. Wall & ceiling sheeting: waterproof plasterboard. Timber door and window architraves: be painted with at least two coats of oil based enamel paint. Floors should be either concrete or waterproof floor sheeting. Joinery: Moisture resistant MDF. 5. Not enough bench space or storage This may seem obvious to you but it is often overlooked in bathroom design and skimping will reduce the comfort and functionality of the room. WWW.THESCHOOLOFRENOVATING.COM……….………….................. ………….…………SHARE GENEROUSLY

  6. Trendy Impractical Fittings Having a strong statement piece is necessary but make sure that it is practical as well as beautiful. If you install a paper thin designer basin, it may look amazing but not effective at containing the water and you will be living with water everywhere but where it should be.
