  1. Distillation! By ChantalleandSharnhi

  2. What is Distillation Distillation is a separation of one substance from another by evaporation and condensation. The product after it’s been distillation is called distillate. The three main ones are simple, fractional and destructive.

  3. Facts about Distillation Distillation is a way of separating the components of a liquid. Distillation uses energy to heat and cool. Distillation in the process of heating a liquid to it’s boiling point and cooling the gas back to a liquid. When a liquid is boiled it vaporizes and becomes a gas.

  4. Each liquid has it’s own boiling point, each component of a mixture boils at a different temperature. Distillation is used to remove salt from water, gasoline from petroleum and separate alcohol from fermented drinks. Some alcohol drinks are produced by the distillation of different fermented fruits and grains.

  5. Crude oil can be put through a complex process of distillation. Is this technique, many comments of the original mixture are evaporated off then collected. This happens over range of the boiling points specific.

  6. Diagram They start by mixing up a sugar wash and add yeast. The yeast eats the sugar and it turns into alcohol. Next they do the distillation process which is the part where they separate the water from the alcohol. The fermented wash is added to the still. They heat the liquid and allows the alcohol to boil off above 78.5% The alcohol and cooled and collected from the still.
