The goals of the GRES Education program are to: • help school districts reduce energy use, conserve water, and minimize waste production through resource efficiency programs and activities • create opportunities to identify, implement and monitor resource efficiency activities within schools • increase awareness of the environmental impact of participant’s daily activities.

RCM School Visit Manager Profile- assists in the selection of a qualified Resource Conservation Manager who is self motivated, a good organizer and communicator RCM School Visit Guide- introduces the concept of lifestyle audit and reporting processes and lifestyle campaigns School Team Leader Guide- assists the team leader to initiate and complete technical audits, lifestyle campaigns and reporting activities School Custodian Guide - provides a description of the custodian’s role in the program

Lighting • Advantages and benefits of energy efficient lighting • Discussion of proposed retrofit and how it will affect building occupants • Fluorescent lighting issues - ballasts, reflectors, mixing lamp types • Other lamp and fixture types - incandescent, quartz halogen, CF, HID, full spectrum • Lighting devices - LED exit lights, photocells, time clocks, occupancy sensors • Energy and power • Common mythology about light switching • Maintenance issues - PCB ballasts, hazardous waste, cleaning, safety, replacement
