  1. Summer Trip! New Hampshire and Maine- hiking &REAL White Water Rafting Monday, August 26th – Monday, September 2nd Join us for our annual big summer high adventure trip! This year is bigger and better. To get ready for our climb, we will race go-carts and play miniature golf! We will climb Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast US at 6288 feet, where it could be 70° at the base and 30° at the summit! After we conquer that we will go climb Maine’s highest peak Mount Katahdin, a whopping 5268 feet. It may not be higher but it is harder! To celebrate our accomplishments we will rest your weary bodies with real white water rafting. The first day we will be on the Kennebec River in duckies (blowup kayaks) in rapids similar to the Lehigh. The second day we will raft in real white water on the Dead River. The Dead River has the longest stretch of class four and five rapids in the Northeast. As a celebration we will have a big bonfire and bar-b-que with a live band. Details Estimated Cost: $325 which includes food, transportation and activities. You will need money for lunch on the first and last days of the trip. Meet: 8:00 a.m. Monday, August 26th at Mother Mary of God church parking lot. Wear class B (do not take class A on the trip, its too hot) What to pack?: You need at least 2 quarts of water for the hikes so you need either canteens or some sort of container for your water that you can easily hike with. In Maine we can be on our hands and knees climbing. You need a small day pack like a school back pack for the hikes to hold extra clothing like a jacket, long pants, flashlight etc. the hikes can last 10 to 12 hours each. Do not pack cotton. They say cotton kills on hikes in the river so don't take it. The rafting company will provide wet suits if you want one. Remember hiking boots, water shoes, bathing suit, canteen, compass, hiking poles if you have extra money for t-shirts, souvenirs and pictures on the river if you want. Now what?
