  1. WHAT IS MA HUANG?

  2. The Ma Huang herb, otherwise known as Ephedra Sinica, was originally discovered in China hundreds of years ago. It contains a stimulant that mimics the effects of adrenaline in the human body, thus promoting weight loss.

  3. It has also been used to treat everything from the common cold to chronic coughs and asthma as well as decongestion and low blood pressure. It has been used in Oriental medicine as an ingredient in teas and other medicinal powders.

  4. The active chemical alkaloids in Ma Huang are Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine – both of which have been used as bronchodilators and for weight loss results. However, of the two, Ephedrine Alkaloids are more effective at promoting fat burning than Pseudoephedrine Alkaloids.

  5. When used as a dietary supplement, ma huang is typically prepared by drying the stems and leaves of the plant. The dried ephedra sinica is then sold as-is or ground into a powder and sold in this form.

  6. Research suggests that the dried extracts are much more potent as they contain a higher proportion of three active pure ingredients - ephedrine, pseudoephedrine and phenylpropanolamine.

  7. These three stimulants then cause an increase in the body’s heart rate and blood pressure, leading to a process known as thermogenesis. In this process, additional fat and sugar stored in the cells are released to increase the body’s core temperature.

  8. This results in a natural boost to the metabolism and allows to body to output more energy without additional exercise.

  9. The amount of ma huang extract that you consume as part of your weight loss program depends on the amount of ephedrine HCL contained in your source of ephedra.

  10. As this is the most powerful weight loss ingredient in the ma huang plant, this supplement should determine your ephedra dosage.

  11. According to the University of Pittsburgh, one should not consume in excess of 25 mg of Ephedrine Hydrochloride at any given time. In a 24 hour period, this dose should not amount to more than 100 mg of pure ephedrine alkaloid.

  12. The biggest concern when using ma huang or ephedra plant extract is that it is difficult to determine exactly how much ephedrine is extracted from the herb.

  13. Because of this, a dose of 25 mg of ephedrine from ephedra can actually contain much more or much less of the alkaloid. This can result in your either consuming too little ephedrine to create sufficient weight loss results or consuming an unsafe overdose of ephedra.

  14. Nowadays, more people use ephedrine HCL that has been synthesized in a lab to ensure the product is safe and properly dosed. There is no difference in the potency of ephedrine that is chemically produced versus ephedrine that is derived from the ma huang plant.

  15. One of the most definitive studies in favor of ma huang and ephedra as weight loss supplements was conducted by the Journal of American Medical Associations in the year 2003.

  16. In a study of multiple double-blind clinical trials, the journal concludes that ma huang does produce significant short-term weight loss results.

  17. These results can add up to 1.4 pounds of additional fat burned in a month when using ma huang, or almost 16 pounds over the course of a year.

  18. Ma Huang may cause side effects if not used according to proper dosage guidelines. These side effects can include irritability, difficulty sleeping, headache symptoms, restlessness, heartburn and increased blood presume.

  19. In more severe cases, individuals have experienced irregular heartbeat, hyperthermia, seizures, and even strokes. It should not be used by anyone suffering from diabetes, insomnia, anorexia, glaucoma, kidney disease, liver disease, or with pre-existing heart conditions.

  20. Ephedra may interact with other medications you are currently taking and you should seek doctor advice before you begin using it to determine if there will be any conflicts.

  21. Even though ma huang has been proven effective as a weight loss supplement, the FDA has banned ephedra sinica extract products because there is little quality control in supplements that are derived directly from the plant.

  22. These supplements can sometimes include impurities ranging from other alkaloids and drugs to toxic metals that you should not ingest. But there are safer ways to achieve weight loss using synthesized pure ephedrine HCL.

  23. If you want to buy ma huang online, we instead suggest that you choose to legally purchase safe and effective Ephedrine HCL. Ephedrine Hydrochloride is legal to purchase online in 8 mg doses when it is marketed as a bronchodilator.

  24. As the active ingredient in Ma Huang, Ephedrine is the alkaloid in the ephedra plant that actually produces weight loss and calorie burning results.

  25. By choosing to look for ephedrine for sale rather than ma huang for sale, you will allow yourself to achieve the same weight loss results without suffering any adverse ephedra side effects.
