  1. Media unit and Lord of the Flies (Author study and Maus for 9 honors)

  2. Texts created • Opinion column • Presentation • Essay • Speech • Commentary • ADDED 9 Honors: pastiche of Maus, written task for author study and Maus.

  3. The Four RRRR’s • Remember – write or draw two things you remember doing, saying or hearing in this semester. It will relate to Lord of the Flies, or media. • 9 honors can relate to Maus as well but not author study.

  4. Revise • Write or draw two important things you have learned about during this semester. It can relate to the articles you read or other things from the media unit, or it can relate to some aspect of Lord of the Flies, Author study or Maus (last two 9 Honors)

  5. Reveal • Now take one of the important things you learned (from last slide) and explain how this knowledge can be used in the future and why it is important.

  6. Reflect • Which piece did you enjoy the most? Why? This should be a specific activity not the unit as a whole. • Which piece did you enjoy the least? Why? This should be a specific activity not the unit as a whole

  7. What would you change? • Should we keep each unit? Why? IF you would get rid of something what would it be and why? What would you replace it with? Why? • What assessments would you keep? Why? What assessment would you get rid of? Why? What do you wish we would have done?

  8. Do not do anything beyond this slide.

  9. Comment on yourself • This is to be done in 3rd person starting with your name and then he or she. It should also state 2 -3 words to describe yourself as a student or as you are in class. TYPED • Please describe what you have done well this year. Your work habit, organization skills, what you have learned and feel you should be proud of. What your struggles were. What you need to improve on. What you should be praised for.

  10. Example • Melissa has had a very successful first semester and is a delight to work with. She has been especially strong in consistently producing high-quality written work. I would like to hear her make more comments in class; share more of her ideas as when she does share she makes meaningful and insightful contributions to class discussions that are always thought provoking and generate deeper discussion into the meaning behind the literature we read. Melissa is a strong writer and has a solid grasp of the English language. She communicates clearly and effectively when she writes and expresses herself in English. In reading she has been able to understand and assimilate some of the more complex meanings and uses of language even before we began class work on the texts. In both reading and writings she works hard to continuously improve her English skills; which says she is a person who is committed to life long learning inside and outside of the classroom. She is a pleasure to have in class and I look forward to next semester.
