The ELSTI project has been carried out with the support of the European community.   3. Subscribing to the courses Scroll down to select the portal language. Use your login data to go to your personal homepage. Go to this section to check on your progress. Click on the courses icon to view the list of available courses Choose the course you are interested in and click on ‘Subscribe to the course’

Users can resume from the previously accessed materials. Users can choose any unit to work on. Users get immediate feedback on their work. Users can add notes personalise their learning.

  8. The 2 Course Levels Change slide The course has 2 levels: Basic user and Independent user. The chosen level is highlighted in red. The chosen unit is highlighted in red.

  9. Course Structure Each language course has 10 units for each level covering the following sections: • In the Office • On the telephone • Correspondence • Internet • Grammar • Culture • and 4 types of follow-up activities : • Dialogue • Practice • Game • Simulation

  11. “The Practice” Activity in “The Office” Section The section the user is in is highlighted in red These buttons allow the user to reset or check the activity The instructions for each activity are in the field on the left. The Activity the user is in is highlighted in red

  12. The “Dialogue” in “The Office” Section Words highlighted in red link automatically to the unit glossary Buttons for the sound option (play / stop / pause) This button allows the user to listen to the dialogue again Words highlighted in blue link automatically to the grammar notes.

  13. “Dialogue” in “The Office” Section: Grammar Pop up window 2 1 3 The corresponding Grammar section will provide explanations and examples. Double click on the grammar form in blue and a pop up window will guide you to the grammar section.

  15. After each practice section the users can check their answers. Sample activity: vocabulary game – ‘drag and drop’ Press “Reset” to do the activity again. Press “Solutions” to see the correct answers. % of correct answers

  16. “Simulation” – Writing “Correspondence” Section Instructions for the writing task. Press this link to send your writing task to the tutor for feedback.

  20. To access the ELS PORTAL, you must first subscribe to the course/s of your choice by clicking on “Courses” on the right of your own personal homepage (once you have registered and logged on to the portal).
