Helpful hints • If both parents have the trait, but one of their offspring do not, then the trait is dominant • If neither parent has the trait, but one of their offspring has it, then the trait is recessive. • If the trait appears every generation, then the trait is probably dominant, but not always • If mostly men have the trait, it is probably sex-linked

  19. Summary • Pedigrees are family trees that explain your genetic history. • Pedigrees are used to find out the probability of a child having a certain trait in a particular family.
