  1. Our country issituatedin central Europe. Poland has 7 neibours. In southern Poland we have mountains an in northern- sea. In our contry we have a lot of lakes and forests. We are a fewbiggercities. Toruń is a city in northern Poland, on the Vistula river. Toruń

  2. This is the coat of armsof Toruń. We havetheangel, whois holding thegate of walls of Old Town . One part of thegateisopened for friends, second one isclosed for enemies. Theangelguardsourtown. Toruń coat of arms

  3. Toruń is one of the best known cities in Poland. It has long history, convenient location and monuments of famous people whose work and life influenced on the image of the modern city. One of them is pope John Paul II. I think that all of you know him very well.

  5. Here we haveNicolaus Copernicus, who was an astronomer. He was born in Torun (1473) and was theauthor of a heliocentric (sun-centered) theory of the solar system.

  6. In Toruńwe have many gothic buildings, all build from brick. These are monumental churches, the Town Hall and many houseswhich we canseeinthe Old Town. In 1997 Toruń was listed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. We see Town Hall wherethemuseumisnow. We can go up on thetower, where we canseebeautifull panorama of Toruń.

  7. Toruń cathedral of Saint John the Baptiser and Saint John the Evangelist is the oldest gothic church in Toruń. Nicolaus Copernicus was baptised there. In the cathedral there is a massive 7 tonne bell hung in the tower. It is one of the biggest bells in Poland and it’s named “Tuba Dei" means "God’s Trumpet".

  8. Rafter’s Monument is located in the western part of the Old Town Marketplace. The monument refers to a legend, which tells of a rafter who, with his beautiful playing, enchanted frogs residing in the town and led them outside the town walls.

  9. In ourtown we haveUniversity of Nicolaus Copernicus. Thisis one of the most respected universities in Poland. It is the largest university in northern Poland with many different faculties.

  10. Toruńiswell- known city in Poland because of gingerbread.It’s the most famous product made in Toruń. Not onlythe sophisticated taste, but also the shapes earned Toruń biscuits international fame.

  12. Planetarium in Toruń was openedin 1994. Whilewatchingthesessions, spectatorshavethefeeling of beinginthespace, in a fewminutestheycanvisitthemoon.

  13. GingerbreadAvenue of Stars was an idea of theinhabitants of Toruń to honourthe most importantpeoplefrom Poland. Therearebronze ‘gingerbreads’ on thepavementwithsignatures of famouspeople. Thename of theavenue - „Gingerbread” - isconnectedwiththe most recognisablesymbol of thetown.
