CEC Function • Makes planning decisions • Makes recommendations to the president, the board of trustees, and the executive council • Supports strategic planning initiatives, accreditation, assessment, and program review for continuous improvement • Identifies significant initiatives to include in the Quality Enhancement Plan • Provides in depth development of action plans for strategic goals of the College • Promotes communication and representation across campus and among colleagues

Responses: • Instructional Services – I know that term but don’t know • Business Services – I can’t really answer that one either • Information Technology – It takes planning to get to quality • Student Services – Ties our money to our goals • Community Resource – has to do with SACS accreditation, SPOL gathers info to document progress and meeting of goals

Response: • Instructional Services – to improve what we do • Business Services – I would assume a committee to work toward our goals and that would be the only way to meet the goal • Information Technology – I don’t know • Student Services – goal team aligns with strategic goals and decides what to do to obtain your goals • Community Resource – advisory committee for each dept to help look at program objectively and make suggestion for improvement

  12. Leading the Way Last year, our Goal Team Leaders and Members worked hard to analyze data and recommend strategic initiatives to achieve our GCC goals. Many of the 28 initiatives have been completed or are in progress. Four of the 28 initiatives are bulleted below. As each of our Vice President’s share progress on initiatives in their area, listen for evidence of 4 of the initiatives recommended by the goal teams. When you hear a reference to one of the four sound out a “YES.” • Student Success, Dr.Harvey – Recommended implementation of a Learning Frameworks Course • Student Learning, Dr. Sorensen – Recommended that a process be developed for systematically assessing ILOs, PLOs, CLOs • Community & Outreach Goal Team, Dr. Teel – Recommended an online repository of current data • Accountability Goal Team, Ms. Faris – recommended more Staff Development opportunities

SACS Sub-C Update and GCC Policy Failure to Comply with Reporting Requirements If an institution fails to follow the substantive change policy and procedures of the Commission on Colleges, it may lose its Title IV funding or be required by the U.S. Department of Education to reimburse it for money received by the institution for programs related to the unreported substantive change. In addition, the institution’s case may be referred to the Commission for the imposition of a sanction or for removal from membership. Colleagues, • Att 1 is the Commission’s August 20, 2010 approval of our SACS Substantive Change submitted March 22, 2010 (att 3).  All submissions for notification and approval were approved.  • However, we were dinged on two counts: • Implementation date on cover letter (Spring 2009) and prospectus (January 2010)for the Certificate, Texoma Regional Police Academy did not match.  • More importantly, Dr. Wheelan states in the last paragraph, “We accept the late notification and request no additional information from you.  The College’s procedure for the timely reporting of substantive changes was reviewed by the Commission on Colleges in June 2009.  I do hope that the late reporting contained in your letter is not indicative that the procedure is faulty.” • Please review the checklist on pp 3-4 in the COC SACS Substantive-Change policy . • Please review GCC’s Substantive Change Policy included in our April 9, 2009 submission to the Commission (att 2 pp 7-20).  Remember, substantive changes require prior notification and approval.   • Thank you for your work in preparing prospectus documents and congratulations on a successful Substantive Change Process, • Debbie
