  2. The Details • $25,000 Grant (maximum) • Application Deadline: Friday, May 30, 2014 • Available to departments that directly serve students: • Instructional departments • Student support services • Auxiliary services

  3. The Goals • Request must address one or both of the following goals: • To enhance the teaching and learning environment • To improve institutional effectiveness in the delivery of instructional programming and/or student support services

  4. The Overview • The proposal should support an innovative response to an existing or emerging: • Student need • Department need • Institutional need • One proposal per department or program • Proposal must be approved by department lead/chair and appropriate vice president

  5. Budget & Funds • Include a detailed budget • Funds may be used for: • Equipment/technology upgrades • Professional development • New program development (although the department must identify how it will continue the program beyond the award period) • Time limited activities

  6. Do’s & Don’ts • Funds may NOT be used to cover the costs of: • Full-time classified staff • Full-time or part-time academic administrators • Any ongoing salary costs • However, funds MAY be used to cover the costs of: • Extra-contractual pay to faculty • Hourly reimbursement of part-time staff • Hiring consultants

  7. The Proposal (1-4) • Provide a brief summary (50 words) • What problems, needs, or issues does your project address? • How will your project support one or both of the goals for this award? What other outcomes will your project address at the student, faculty or program level? • Describe the specific activities and strategies that your department/program will use to address the identified needs and outcomes.

  8. The Proposal (5-8) • Develop a timeline for implementation, including key milestones to be accomplished. • How does your project complement or supplement existing services? • Is this a one-time request? Or will your project support new program development? If this is a start-up request, how will your department maintain the program when funding ends? • Does your proposal leverage other existing or pending sources of funding? If so, please specify?
