    2. The Department of Health fully commits to the attainment of the MDGs. Our contribution is anchored on the following: Awareness of the current issues, particularly on: Regional disparities Inadequate funding Current level or status of the MDGs

    3. Strategies to address the issues and challenges Update the National Objectives for Health, which spells out the goals that we will strive to reach for the next 5 years Muster all efforts and resources towards attaining the goals that we set using: GOP resources ODA resources-for efficient use thereof we are moving towards sector wide approach (SWAp) Philhealth reimbursements

    4. Maintaining the current strategies that have been working to our advantage, such as: Public-Private participation particularly in the area of Infectious Disease Control (PhilCAT, KLM) Protected budget for Infectious Disease Control (TB, Vaccine-preventable diseases) as implemented in the Social Expenditure Management Program (SEMP)

    5. Introduction of new strategies where current strategies have not been working Reach every barangay (EPI) – strategy to improve the fully immunized child (FIC) coverage Outreach strategies (RH) Shift birthing from home to facilities Establishment/updating of the Management Information System (MIS)

    6. DOH strategies in support of its partners: Assist the oversight agencies in M & E/advocacy efforts on the MDGs Assist the LGUs in localizing the MDGs, in focused targeting and in planning and budgeting Assist the LGUs in determination of effective strategies to fast track attainment of the annual targets set Assist the LGU in strengthening the implementation and service delivery/IECs Static clinics (RHUs, hospitals) Outreach program
