  23. Personalised Learning This means: Providing the most appropriate educational package for each pupil, not a common package into which each learner must fit.

  24. Expectations • 8 GCSEs or equivilent • 5 of these at Grade C or above How can this best be achieved ?

  25. Tracking pupil progress • Evaluating previous performance • Additional support for those who might not achieve these expectations • Parental involvement • New courses more suited to the pupil’s abilities and interests • Reduced pressure • Real training in how to learn and how to succeed • 100% attendance in KS4

  26. How will we fulfil these ideas.? • Tracking and evaluation is already in place • Two pathways have been developed with additional Maths and English time for those who have achieved lower levels in SATs and a G4G programme. Increased time allocation to GCSE options this year. • Reports 3 times per year for all pupils and information/meetings for those in the G4G programme • Combined courses more suited to the workplace • Only 8-9 GCSEs for some pupils to reducing the exam pressure. • Practical study skills for all pupils.

  27. What is a B.Tec • More work related curriculum • Equal to 4 GCSE grades of A*-C • 100% coursework (no examination) • More differentiated to each pupil • Extra time for English and Maths • Able to progress to A Level or Level 3 courses.

  28. Does this work? Some schools nationally have seen an extra 30% of their pupils achieve 5 x C grades through the introduction of the B.Tec courses

  29. What does this look like in practice ? Two clear pathways to success. Pupils are assigned to these on the basis of their Average Points Score in SATs
