Beamline Parallel - Summary

Beamline Parallel - Summary. A new beamline revision has been produced (AUG05) catering for 200MeV/c, 6pi setting. - Basically beamline is shortened by about ~ 2m or so. - TOF0, Ckov1, TOF1 qualitatively maintain their positions wrt triplets. - Collimator is included upstream of Q4.

  1. Beamline Parallel - Summary

  2. - purpose is to reduce TOF0 rates, whilst not affecting 'Good Muons' - TJR has evaluated it using g4bl (details in next talk.)

  3. Muon Beam Line Optic. Rate at Spectrometer input , 10 % dp/p TOF separation 6.11 m (2" TOFs) Collimator.Total 10.6cm Horiz Gap MICE Q4 Q5 Q6 Q7 Q8 Q9 Ckov1 Iron Shield

  4. CR first look @ Other small emittance lattices with same magnet layout - Theoretical pencil muon beam with PID devices in, shows beamline produces minimum ~ 2pi natural emittance. (AB: 'Could collimate' of course (DK/AB presumably also just sample small beam/reweight small beam from big beam)but this also collimates the rates. - More realistic natural low emittance beams: Taking AUG05 & removing diffuser - lower emittance but 'really awful'match. - Taking AUG05 & removing diffuser + scaling fields + new optics - better match and natural min beam ~ 3pi!

  5. KT : a look at difference p_ref cases for 6pi emittance. ie 140MeV/c, 240MeV/c - Just scale the fields! - Looks very promising indeed/probably a plausible route.

  6. Compilation of Future Plans - We need to know the use cases quite soon. ie especially low p_ref cases & what will the Spectr Solenoid field be there? - KT to collate and compare CR/TJR/KW 200,6pi work - KT/CR to establish whether current 200,6pi case is well matched. - (If not use CR alpha, beta <TOF1 and revise/re-evaluate) - Scale and re-evaluate 240,6pi / 140,6pi cases (CR/KW) - PD/KT establish whether ex-LEP correctors are suitable for us.
