  8. Marketing Campaign • Saatchi & Saatchi conducted research about messages to volunteers from other organizations. • S&S also researched what personally moves people to volunteer. Their staff members volunteered, spoke with volunteers and provided us with insight detailed on the following slides.

  9. Why aren’t New Yorkers Volunteering? • THEY’RE PROCRASTINATING. IT’S A NATURAL HUMAN CONDITION. • THEY HAVEN’T BEEN ASKED • THEY HAVEN’T BEEN ASKED INDIVIDUALLY

  10. THE #1 REASON PEOPLE DON’T VOLUNTEER • IS BECAUSE THEY HAVEN’T BEEN ASKED • PERSONAL REQUESTS ARE POWERFUL.

  11. Why ARE New Yorkers Volunteering? • THEY ALL WANT TO FEEL THAT THEY PERSONALLY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. • Youth need social connection • Working people need to feel volunteering is meaningful • Seniors need to feel needed

  12. CREATIVE CHALLENGE: • INSPIRE ONE NEW YORKER TO ASK ANOTHER • IF 2.8M CURRENT VOLUNTEERS ASKED ONE PERSON • AND THOSE PEOPLE ASK ANOTHER • WITH JUST 3 DEGREES OF SEPARATION, WE WILL HAVE INCREASED VOLUNTEERING 300%. • THAT’S 57% OF THE ENTIRE NEW YORK STATE POPULATION.
