  6. Spelling • Taught in ability groups within each class • Focus on spelling rules • Taught twice a week • Children to learn words for dictation at the end of each half term • Spelling lists will be sent home this week & be available on the school website

The Curriculum • Literacy: Journalistic writing Macbeth Persuasive Writing Poetry Weekly SPAG focus • History: The Vikings (Cross curricular links to Art, Music & Literacy) • Art / DT: Links to the Vikings including making a Viking shoe • Science: Living Things & Habitats plus Animals • PSHE: Feelings, Friends & Friendships Financial Capability

Secondary Transfer • 8th September 2014: • Information Meeting at Buttsbury Junior School • 20th September 2014: • Test for selective schools (11+) • September/October 2014: • Read the information in the pack • Find out about local schools - obtain their prospectus • Visit local schools - open evenings, appointments to visit • Submit your application form – ideally on-line • 31st October 2014: • Deadline for common application form

  14. Important Dates The Billericay School The Billericay School Open Evening Monday 29th September 2014 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm Head Teacher talks at 6:45pm, 7:30pm & 8:15pm The Billericay School Open Mornings 2nd, 3rd & 7th October Tours at 9:10am & 10:10am

SATs • The week beginning Monday 11th May 2015 • Writing is a combination of teacher assessed based on work covered in class. • There will be a grammar, punctuation and spelling test (GPS). • Preparation programme (Jan. 2015 onwards) • Mock SATs – January and March • Booster Classes (start after the February half-term) and Easter revision school (hopefully!)
