    1. 4/17/2012 Innovative Vehicle Technology DB22LT - Light Trailer Brake Package December 2009

    2. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 2 Widespread Use in Europe Air disc brakes are offered as standard equipment on most truck, bus and trailer applications Overall usage rate is over 70% of new vehicle build Haldex Air Disc Brakes have been in production since 1998 and are in use throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America.

    3. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 3 The Idea Isn’t New

    4. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 4 Changes in Stopping Distance Requirements In December 2005 NHTSA proposed a change in the rule making to improve the stopping distance performance of truck tractors.

    5. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 5 NHTSA – New Braking Standards For Truck and Tractors Mandating that a Tractor – Trailer Traveling at 60 Miles per hour, must come to a complete stop in 250 feet. Current / old standard 355 feet Beginning in 2012 models will be phased in over 4 years Three Axle Tractors with a gross vehicle rating (GVWR) of 59,600 pounds or less must meet the reduced stopping distance requirements by August 1, 2011

    6. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 6 Air Disc versus S-cam Brakes vs.

    7. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 7 Limits of the Drum Brake

    8. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 8 Weight Comparison, Trailer

    9. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 9 Advantages of Disc Brakes Fade resistance

    10. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 10 Four Slide Pins Superior sliding function, increased stability against vibration and seizing Disc brake is unhanded, same brake fits left or right hand side Less parts to stock, fewer part numbers to manage

    11. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 11 Approved Rotors for DB22 and DB22 LT Gunite iron hub wih “U” rotor ConMet aluminum hub with flat rotor

    12. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 12 Efficient, Dependable Mechanism Twin tappets (pistons) provide better distribution of braking force to promote even pad wear One self contained actuation unit for multiple brake sizes High efficiency with dual cylindrical roller bearings provides low hysteresis for improved responsiveness Built-in automatic brake adjustment function based on the same clearance sensing technology as the Haldex ABA Simple manual adjustment at reline

    13. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 13 Reliable Slide Pin Solution Stainless steel pins provide improved mounting stability and resistance to corrosion Self lubricating, Teflon® guide bushings for low friction do not require grease lubrication Silicon rubber boots exclude contaminants Protective cover encloses slide pins on inside of caliper Slide pin components are common at all positions

    14. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 14 Visual Wear Indicator

    15. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 15

    16. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 16 Modular Design = Common Service Parts

    17. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 17 Brake Pads Jurid 539-20 Pads Low-met friction material; COF ~ 0.40 Widely used and accepted in North America and Europe More “forgiving” to the rotor in abusive conditions Other brake pad friction materials are available upon request

    18. Dec 2009 Innovative Vehicle Technology 18 Haldex Actuators Double Diaphragm Spring Brakes Gold Seal® Life Seal® Service Chambers Same reliable performance as with our S-cam chamber. By using all Haldex components you can protect your air disc brake warranty. Brake chamber failure can result in air disc brake failure, and may void the air disc caliper warranty. Most competitors can’t provide the whole package, or outsource parts of it. Some of them buy Haldex chambers!Same reliable performance as with our S-cam chamber.
