  4. Phase 1 • Desktop review of options • Present recommended option(s) including business case • Consult GMTG on options for structure

  5. Phase 2 • Clearly defined, agreed structure for GMTG • Engage and consult with wider business community • Formalise membership, governance, etc

  6. Phase 3 • Once GMTG is a form of legal entity TfL has committed to provide £30k of funding • GMTG administration to identify activities or initiatives to benefit members to spend by end of financial year 2013-14 • Provides access to new TfL funding in summer • Opportunities to access other demonstration and research funding, egDfT, EU, TfL

  7. Working Group • Need volunteers to sit on working group help test ideas and assist the initial phase of work? • Please let me know if you are able to help: Colin Black colin@contemporarytransport.co.uk 0207 193 5432

  8. TfL match funding offer (2014-15) • Opportunity for business partnerships to bid for matched funding • Deliver projects which promote sustainable transport initiatives within operating area • Innovative solutions which deliver clear benefits for businesses • Must also help TfL to meet its sustainable transport targets

  9. Funding Rationale • Enable employers and TfL to work towards shared goals for mutual benefit • Support business community by funding sustainable transport projects they support • Assist delivery of sustainable transport initiatives, such as cycling, walking, flexible working solutions, sustainable freight, electric vehicles or clean air initiatives • To benefit London’s environment

  10. Eligibility... • Don’t need to be a formally recognised BID • Must be an organisation who works to improve conditions for members within a clearly defined geographical area • Measures or interventions must be in an accessible location available to all businesses, not solely for the benefit of one organisation • Submissions will only be considered if they provide a tangible benefit to allmembers

  11. Key to Success • Offer novel solutions to promote sustainable urban mobility, and particularly initiatives to target new audiences • Clearly identify an issue which needs to be addressed, and provide a compelling case as to how the proposal will resolve the problem • Show how members have been engaged and input into the application process, identifying issues and opportunities in the area and developing unambiguous solutions to them

  12. Funding Criteria • Matched funding for successful applicants, covering up to 50% of the cost of the project • Not an opportunity to secure funding for ongoing initiatives or business as usual activities • Funding will be released from January 2014, either in one instalment or as staged payments, and will need to be spent by the end of March 2015.

  13. Important dates... • 30th July - deadline for expressions of interest. Need some ideas to test with TfL today! • 31st October – formal submission deadline • 30th November – TfL notify successful BIDs
