  5. TOPIC : • HONORING THE PULPIT AND THE SANCTUARY

  6. Lev. 19:30 • “‘Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the LORD.

  7. Does God expect us christians to give special or reverence to church sanctuaries & facilities? • We are to show reverence to God & to the things that represent His person & presence

  8. He. 12:28-29 • let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

  9. The sanctuary at that time was a tent, yet the presence of the Lord makes even the most commonplace setting very special & deserving of our reverence • We live in an age that treats everything as common. • Our prevailing culture teaches that no one should be regarded as any better than oneself.

  10. PSALM 26:8 • I love your sanctuary, LORD, the place where your glorious presence dwells.

  11. THE PULPIT • The Pulpit is the stage or the platform in the church

  12. THE SANCTUARY • The sanctuary is the shelter, refuge or the place of safety.

  13. HONORING THE PULPIT AND SANCTUARY • BEAUTIFICATION • - adornment and decoration • - Genesis 28:17 He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."

  14. NUMBERS 8:4 • And this was the workmanship of the lampstand, hammered work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was hammered work; according to the pattern that the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. • Numbers 24:21 Then he saw the Kenites and spoke his message: "Your dwelling place is secure, your nest is set in a rock;

  20. PSALM 84: 10 • 10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

  22. HONORING THE PULPIT AND SANCTUARY thru: • 6. SACREDNESS • - Holiness and Blessedness • - Isaiah 18:4 For the LORD has told me this: "I will watch quietly from my dwelling place--as quietly as the heat rises on a summer day, or as the morning dew forms during the harvest."

  25. PSALM 24:3-4 • 3 Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? • 4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, • who does not trust in an idol • or swear by a false god.

  26. PSALM 27:4 • One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple
