Dear Student, • If you continue your studies more than the expiration date of your card, then you have to extent your residence permit. • Please be aware that extension application is fully your responsibility. • You have to make yourself familiar with the extension process from the Immigration Office web page and apply for extension before your residence permit expires. If you do not do so, you will face penalties and even deportation. • Therefore, we suggest that you add your expiration date to your personal calendar and make sure to get a reminder at least 2 months in advance. • You have to make your extension application before the expiration date. If you miss the date, then you can still apply within 10 days of expiration, which might bring penalty payments too..

INSTRUCTIONS • Apply online at https//e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr • In order to avoid any technical difficulties on the website regarding your application, we advise you to do your application under the Turkish version of the Extension Application. • 2. Please select the green box • Pink box: “I want to make first residence permit application” • Green box: “I want to make an extension” • Orange box: “I want to make a transfer application”

  4. 3. Select the Type of the Application. • First Box: “I want tostart myapplication” • Second Box: “I want to continue my application” • Third Box: “I want to see my result” for renewal’’

Please, fill in the blanks. • All fields marked with red are mandatory. • “İkametİlimideğiştirmekistiyorum”: Select “Hayır” (No) • “Adınızın ilk ikiharfi”: Type your first two letter of your first name. • “Soyadınızın ilk ikiharfi”: Type your first two letter of your last name. • “Vatandaşıolduğunuzülke”: Select your nationality. • Enter the Foreign ID number you have on your residence permit card. • If you have your own mobile number, select “Cep Telefonu” as a contact option. You can select e-mail address, if you don’t have a mobile number available. • Make sure that you entered the contact information correctly. • Click the confirmation box. • Enter the characters you see in the image to the space near the image. • Click “Devam Et” >>

After filling out the information, the system will direct you to activation page. • You will receive SMS or an e-mail with a verification code and application number. • Check your inbox. • Enter the verification code. • If you don’t receive any SMS or e-mail click “Tekrardoğrulamakodugönder” (Send a new code) • Click “Başvuruyadevam et” >>

(“bekar” for single, “evil” for married, “boşanmış for divorced) • Enter your information properly with your passport. • Click “İleri” >>

Enter your passport information correctly. • “BelgeTürü”: Select the“UmumaMahsusPasaport” (Ordinary Passport) • “DüzenlenmeTarihi”: Enter issue date of your current passport (Day/Month/Year) If you renewed your passport and have never travelled with your new passport, enter your previous passport’s issue date. • “GeçerlilikTarihi” : Enter expire date of your current passport • “Belge No”: Enter your current passport number. • If you renewed your passport and have never travelled with your new passport, enter your previous passport number. • If you have never travelled with your new passport, enter your old passport number • If your passport contains letters and numbers write them together. • If you have used your new passport while entering Turkey, use your new passport information. • “Verenülke”: Select the name of the country that issued your passport • “Verenmakam”: Write the name of authority that issued your passport

Please, enter your abroad contact information • Skip the fields with black titles. • “Ülke”: Select your country • “Şehir”: Enter your city • “AçıkAdres”: Enter the address of the place where you live in your home country. • “Telefon 1”: Enter your mobile number in Turkey. • “E-posta”: Enter your e-mail address which one you use regularly. • Click “İleri” >> • n)

Enter your contact information in Turkey. • Enter the campus address as your contact address in order to receive your card safely (even if you are staying at an address other than campus) • “İl” (City) : Select “İstanbul” • “İlçe” (Province): Select “Tuzla” • “Mahalle” (District): Select “OrtaMahallesi” • “Cadde” (Street): Select “ÜniversiteCaddesi” • “Bina” (Number): Select “27A” • “BağımsızBölüm” (Independent Section) : Select “1” • “Telefon 1”: Enter your mobile number without a leading zero. • “E-posta”: Enter your Sabancı University e-mail address. • Click “İleri” >> Enter the correct mobile number on the online application form. When your extension application is approved, you will receive a approval SMS from the Immigration office. After this message your residence permit card will be delivered to your contact address. We strongly suggest you to enter the campus address. Once your card arrives to the campus, a notification e-mail will ben sent to your Sabancı account. After you receive the e-mail you should pick up your card from the Communication Center within 2 weeks. If not, your card will be sent back to the immigration administration located in Fatih/ Istanbul. Thus, please check your e-mails regularly.

Fill out the information about current study at Sabancı University • “ÖğrenimDurumu”: Select your degree • - “Lisans” for Undergraduate • - “Yükseklisans” for Master • - “Doktora” for PhD • “Değişim” for Exchange or Erasmus • “Sınıf”: Select your grade (1, 2, 3 etc. and“Hazırlık” for foundation development year.) • “Öğrenci No”: Enter your student ID number. • “OkulTürü”: Select school type as “Vakıf” (Foundation University) • “ÖğrenimBaşlangıçTarihi”: Enter your enrollment date. You can find it on your student certificate. • “ÖğrenimBitişTarihi”: Enter your expected graduation date. • Select the address information according to the table left. (İstanbul, Tuzla, OrtaMahallesi, ÜniversiteCaddesi, 27 A, 1) • Click “İleri”>>

  16. 15. Select “GelirDurumu” (Income Status) as “Geliri yok” (no income) • Click “İleri”>>

  17. 16. “SağlıkSigortasıTürü” (Type of Health Insurance): Select “SGK-GenelSağlıkSigortası” and skip the page. • Click “ileri”>>

  18. 17. Tick all the redboxes ( except 6th box:“Başvurutarihindenitibaren 3 ay içindesağlıksigortasıyaptıracağımıbeyanederim” ) • Skip the black boxes. • Click “İleri”>>

Fill out this page carefully. • “Kalışnedeni” (Reason for stay): • Select your degree; • “Lisans” for undergraduate • “YüksekLisans” for master • “Doktora” for PhD • “TalepEdilenSüre” (Requested period for residence permit): Type the requested time as number, then select • “yıl” for year • “ay” for month • “gün” for day • Requestedperiodshould be untilyourstudyperiod, HOWEVER ifyourpassport is expiringbeforeyourestimatedgraduation, youneedto set thedatefor 60 dayspriortotheexpirydate. • “TalepEdilenBaşlangıçTarihi” (Requested Start Date of your new residence permit): You may enter one day after your current residence permit expire date. • Tick the confirmation box and click “Tamamla” (Complete the application) button.

  20. 19. After completing your registration, the system will direct you to the main page. In order to complete your application please follow the instructions. • You should first make an appointment in order to download your application pdf document. • Click “RandevuTalebiOluştur” (Make Appointment) >> • Note: If you would like to review or update your information you should click “Update Information”. • Warning: Once you click “Make appointment” button you cannot edit your information anymore.

Select appointment place. • Select “Fatih..” from the drop-down list. • If “Fatih” is not in the list, select “Pendik”. • If “Pendik” is not in the list, select any. • IMPORTANT: Since we will submit your application folder to the Immigration Office on your behalf, your appointment place is not important. However, in order to printout your application form, you should make a so-called appointment. • NOTE: Appointment date will be sent to your mobile phone via SMS. Since, you need to submit your documents to IRO, please disregard the message. You do not have to go to your appointment.

After making appointment the system will direct you to the main page again. • Click “KayıtBelgesiniYazdır” to download your application pdf file. • Do not forgetto PRINT OUT YOUR APPLICATION FILE • 23. You can make you residence permit fee payment online. However, you can make online payment only after you receive appointment SMS. You can make your payment to the nearest tax office. After making online payment, download the payment receipt and print it out. • In case you need to go to the tax office on your own, the nearest tax offices’ addresses are given below • YakacıkTax Office: HürriyetMahallesiYakacıkD-100 KuzeyYanyolCad.   24. 23. Sign the application document (page 5) • Send the copy of your application file to irolegal@sabanciuniv.edu

What are the required documents? • A Printout of your online application form (Signed) • Copy of Passport (ID page, entry stamp page, and visa page): If you have entered Turkey with an e-visa, you have to submit the copy of your e-visa. Make sure your passport is valid for 6 months minimum. • Old residence permit card copy (both side) • Four (4) biometric photos • Student Certificate (in Turkish) • You can download your student certificate from e-devlet portal through this link or request an official document signed and stamped by the university through this link. • Health Insurance Policy (We already have your health insurance documents. ) • A Printout of Address Declaration Document (Download from here . You may download the sample filled document from here. ) • The receipt of residence permit card fee (currently 89 TL) • You can pay with your debit card or credit card using through e-ikamet system, or you can pay it at the tax offices. Please take a copy of your receipt for yourself and bring the original document. If you pay through the system, print out two copy of the receipt and attach one of the copies to your files and keep the other copy for yourself. • You should bring all these documents to us (International Relations Office) in 5 working days, after making online application.

  26. If you are under 18 years old and don’t have visa or visa exemption for Turkey • You have to submit a document (letter of parental consent) written by your parents allowing you to study at Sabancı University and live in Turkey. It should have an Apostille and must be officially translated into Turkish. You should get a true copy of it by notary. If you come from a country that does not have an Apostille agreement, then you should also get the approval from your consulate in İstanbul and the district governorship in Turkey after getting it translated and approved by notary. • You have submit your birth certificate. It should have an Apostille and must be officially translated into Turkish. You should get a true copy of it by notary.   27. If my residence card has expired? • In case your residence permit expired already and you cannot make the online application (renewal option), you need to apply as a new applicant at the first 10 days after the expiring day of the residence permit that you already have. So keep in mind that you cannot apply for Residence Permit Renewal anymore, but for Residence Permit - First Application at https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr

  28. If I leave Turkey? • In case you decide to leave Turkey before you receive the residence permit, please make sure that you have your MüracaatBelgesi (Approval Document) + residence payment receipt with you at the airport that shows you applied for your residence permit. • The MüracaatBelgesi is the approval document of residence permit application. • If your residence permit application is approved by the Immigration Office, you will receive SMS that your application has been evaluated positively. Once you receive SMS, you can go to the Immigration Office and request your approval document. • To take this document, you need to go with your passport to İstanbul Immigration Office and submit it to the “ÖğrenciOdası” (Student Room)on the first floor. The Immigration Office might ask for additional information (your application number, old residence permit card, student ID or departure ticket). • Please make sure to get this document 5 days prior to leaving the country. • According to the law, you are not allowed to leave the country more than 15 days without the residence permit.

  29. Leaving Turkey After Graduation And Extending Your Period Of Stay • You can stay in Turkey 10 days after you leave university or freeze the term with your valid residence permit. • If you will stay more than 10 days after leaving university or freezing the term, you have to pay penalty at the airport when you leave Turkey. You can apply for a short-term residence permit before your residence permit becomes invalid. • If you graduate, your residence permit card is canceled as of your graduation date, even if the card’s expiry date shows a later date. You can stay in Turkey 10 days after your graduation date. You can apply for a short term residence permit before your residence permit become invalid. • If you will do further studies in Turkey, you can apply for student residence permit within 90 days.
