Do Now Task • Directions: Read the explanation below and answer the question that follows: • In American football, blitzing is a tactic used by the defense to disrupt pass attempts by the offense. During a blitz, a higher than usual number of defensive players will rush the opposing quarterback, to try to tackle the quarterback or force them to hurry their pass attempt.  • Paraphrase: What is a BLITZ in general?

  5. Mini-Lecture Blitzkrieg:Means Lightening War: Fast-paced style of fighting. Coordination of air force, tanks, troops and artillery in a small, narrow area. Blitzkrieg tactics allowed Hitler to conquer most of Europe early in World War II.

  7. Finally….. Great Britain and France declare war on Germany on September the 3rd 1939, 2 days after the invasion of Poland.

  8. Miracle at Dunkirk British/French troops trapped on a beach await rescue. British Navy saves 330,000 troops/ evacuate to England. The troops that were saved would be used to invade and liberate France during D-DAY (1944).
