  3. Running Head • Abbreviated title printed at the top of the pages of a published article • Abbreviated title • Flush left at top • ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS • Do not exceed 50 characters, including spaces and punctuation

  4. Title • Summarize main idea of paper • “It should be a concise statement of the main topic and should identify the actual variables or theoretical issues under investigation and the relationship between them.” • Fully explanatory when standing alone

  5. Title Good or bad example? • A study of the effect of caffeine on driving • The effect of self esteem on desirable responding • How do I love me? Let me count the ways • Initial development of the Drunk Person Perception Scale • Results of independent t-tests to assess gender differences on math achievement

  6. Title • Uppercase and lowercase letters • Centered between left and right margins • Positioned in upper half of the page • Double-space if two or more lines

  7. Byline / Affiliation • First name, middle initial, and last name. • Be consistent with your other presentations! • Omit titles and degrees • Affiliation: location where authors conducted investigation • Dual affiliation only when two institutions contributed “substantial financial support”

  8. Byline / Affiliation • In order of contributions • Uppercase and lowercase letters • Centered between left and right margins • One double-spaced line below title • Separate suffix from rest of name with a space, no comma • Affiliation centered under author’s name on next double-spaced line

  9. Byline / Affiliation • If two or more authors who follow each other in the order are at the same institution: type the authors’ names on one line, separate the names of two authors with “and”, separate the names of three or more authors with commas and insert “and” before the last author. • If several authors are from different institutions, type the names on separate lines. Double space between lines.
