  2. The Parts Of This System • We have many different parts of the digestive system. All of them are essential to a super healthy life. Let’s take a look!

  3. The Digestive System

  4. Your Esophagus • After you chew your food, it goes down to your esophagus which squeezes and squelches the food like a tube of toothpaste. It moves the food from your mouth, to your stomach.

  5. Your Stomach Your stomach is probably the most important thing in the digestive system. The stomach is like a bag made up of smooth muscles. It has many gastric juices inside of it. The stomach mixes and squeezes the food. The juices digest some of the food.

  6. Liver • Your soldier is your liver it fights the yucky bacteria and toxins away. It helps take the bad stuff away from your food. It is very important for life. The liver is the biggest organ in your body, it weighs about 3 pounds. It destroys red blood cells.

  7. Small intestine • After your food is in the stomach it goes to a place called the small intestine. It’s a long tube of muscle. It has little tiny muscles in it called villi. The villi takes the nutrients from the liquid food. You might wonder why is it coiled around in a weird shape? But it is like that because it’s 7 meters long.

  8. Large intestine • The large intestine is also called a colon. It takes the other parts of food down into your body and piles up. Once it has enough, it comes out the other end as waste.

  9. Keep your Body Healthy • If you want to stay healthy and strong you have to have good eating habits and not over eating , or in other words have a good diet.

  10. What Would Happen if Taken Out? • If we took a part out from the system, the food would be too big to swallow and you would not live because if you can’t swallow you won’t get energy.
