  3. Communities First – The Future • Welsh Government consultation in July 2011 • Renewed focus of the programme • Community focused programme that supports the Welsh Government’s Anti Poverty agenda • Focus on Education/ Skills, Economy and Health

  4. The Future - Cont • Clusters of most deprived LSOA’s • Supporting the most disadvantaged • Application period for next phase from March to June 2012 • Two Stage Application process • Extension to current phase to 30th Sept 2012

  5. Caerphilly’s Approach • Stage One: Proposed Areas • Collection of wide range of data inc WIMD • Wide Consultation and submission to Cabinet • Submitted proposed Clusters and LSOA’s in March 2012 • Endorsed by the WG in April • Stage Two: Full Application • Three Parts to the application

  7. Outcome Indicators Prosperous Communities • % Income related benefits • % children in households on income related benefits • % employment related benefits • % 16 – 24 yr old NEETs • % youth offenders (% of population aged 10-17)

  8. Cont: Learning Communities • Key Stage 2 / 3 4 results • Primary and Secondary school absence rates • % of 18/ 19 yr olds not entering higher education • % of adults with no qualifications

Cont: Healthier Communities • % live births with a low birth weight • Cancer incident rates • % population with limiting long term illness • % population who are obese • gap in life expectancy between the most and least deprived • % of children reaching or exceeding their development milestones at three

  10. Pt 2: Community Involvement Plan • Community Involvement will underpin all delivery • Outline how the Community will be empowered • Activities be-spoke and tailored to need • Continued engagement with existing structures • Referrals from partners

  11. Pt 3: Staff Structure and Resources • Staff structure to meet needs of the programme • Costed project proposals • Budget for Community Involvement

  12. Timescales • Decision from the Welsh Government end of Sept • Four month implementation period • Three year funding • New programme up and running 2013
