USCS Datacenter • Located in Springfield, Virginia approximately 15 miles from Washington, DC • Supports three major application groups: • Commercial (AES) • Administrative • Law Enforcement • Four S/390 mainframe servers running OS/390 • 21 Terabyte (21,500 Gigabyte) direct access (Disk) data storage capacity • Process over 1.2 billion database requests per day

  4. Overview of Customs’ AES Options Data Transport Options: • Remote Job Entry (RJE) • Network Job Entry (NJE) • MQSeries Communication Options: • Dial-Up Lines • Leased Lines • Frame Relay Network • Value Added Networks (VANs) * Internet via Census’ AESDirect

  5. Modem Exporter Modem AES IBM 3720/25/45 USCS Dial-Up Network • 264 Toll-free Dial-Up Lines • 14.4 kbs max speed • Supports RJE only • Session terminated after one minute of inactivity

  6. Exporter IRE Encryptor Modem Modem IRE Encryptor IBM 3720/25/45 AES Point to Point Leased Lines • 100+ currently in use • Exporter provides two 56 Kbs modems and two encryptors • Supports: • RJE • NJE • MQSeries

  7. Point to Point Leased Lines • Trade Benefits: • Improved data throughput • Dedicated circuit to Customs • Not subject to toll-free dial-up modem saturation or session inactivity timeout • High level of security • Provides additional interface options
