  1. THE FISH GAME!

  2. Aims of the Game • Divide the class into 4 groups – red, green, yellow and blue • The aim is for each group to the obtain their 4 coloured fish faster then any other group • To do this they must first find their fish and then answer the questions correctly

  3. WHY USE THE FISH GAME? • It is best used as a revision tool at the end of a topic / module • It can be used with any year group • It promotes team work • High level question techniques can be incorporated • It consolidates ideas

  4. WHAT IS THE FISH GAME! • It is a cork pin board with 16 coloured pockets on it. • There are 4 pockets of each colour; red, green, yellow and blue • The red pockets are labelled A1 to A4, the green pockets are labelled B1 to B4, yellow C1 to C4 and finally blue D1 to D4.

  5. The Fish Game

  6. THE FISH! • Inside each pocket is a paper fish – these need to be made! • Somewhere on the board there are 4 red fish, 4 green fish, 4 yellow fish and 4 blue fish • The aim of the game is for each team to collect their 4 fish

  7. THE FISH!

  8. WHERE DO THE FISH GO? • The fish go inside the pockets • They DO NOT have to go in their coloured pocket i.e. the red fish do not have to go in the red pockets • There does have to be one of each coloured fish in the 1 column, the 2 column, the 3 column and the 4 column.

  9. WHERE DO THE FISH GO?

  10. HOW TO PLAY • You need a question for every pocket on the board – see example questions provided • The A1 to D1 questions should be the easiest whilst the A4 to D4 questions should be the hardest • Each team therefore needs to answer an easy question progressing through to a hard question in order to win the game • The questions remain the same for each pocket throughout the game

  11. HOW TO PLAY • The red team goes first and picks a pocket eg. A1 • The question for A1 is read out • If they are incorrect you move onto the next team WITHOUT answering the question • If they are correct you look in the pocket • If it is a red fish then give it to them and they get another go • If it is not there coloured fish DO NOT tell them which colour it is, just move onto the next team
