  2. SKILLS SHORTAGES Skills shortages have several effects: - • Increased wage and recruitment costs • Import of cheap skilled and unskilled labour • Limits in type of work • Delays to work programmes • Poor service results • Poor standards

  3. SKILLS SHORTAGES The consequences of skills shortages include: - • A low level of new recruits to the industry • An ageing workforce • Low levels of organised training • Low margins resulting in limited investment in training • Low pay, poor working conditions and a lack of respect • Increased legislation and regulations

  4. CONSTRUCTION SKILLS DIPLOMA IN WALL & FLOOR TILING • Level 1 Diploma in Wall & Floor Tiling = 1 Year • Level 2 Diploma in Wall & Floor Tiling = 1 Year • Level 3 Diploma in Wall & Floor Tiling = 1 Year

  5. CONSTRUCTION SKILLS DIPLOMA IN WALL & FLOOR TILING The qualifications for Wall & Floor Tiling are being delivered through: - • Colleges • Independent Training Centres • On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) • Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA)

  6. WHAT WILL IT MEAN TO ME? Tilers receiving a Triennial award from the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers for Excellence in Ceramic Tiling

  7. HOW DO I GET A CARD? CSCS endorsement will be granted by two possible routes: - • A QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) qualification* • A Site Safety Plus Health and Safety Awareness Course* *The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test has to be passed alongside this route

  8. CONSTRUCTION SKILLS Construction Skills will: - • Arrange training for you at a local college • Help you as an employer claim grants – You could get up to £9,500 over a three year apprenticeship! • Advise you on expenses available to cover lodgings or travel costs • Help with any problems you have during your apprenticeship

  9. GRANTS Grants are also available for: - • OSAT Centre Fees • NVQ Fees • CSCS Health & Safety Test • CSCS Cards
