  4. more facts • Ares is a war and violence god in Greek mythology. • He was not well liked or trusted by the Greeks and there are few tales about him. • Cults of Ares were found mainly in Crete • and the peloponnese Athena is also a war goddess but was well respected as a polis protector and goddess of strategy instead of mayhem. • Ares has no unique attributes but is described as strong harnessed in bronze, and golden helmeted. He rides a war chariot. The serpent, owls, vultures, and woodpecker are sacred to him.

I am the god of war so I like to fight a lot that’s why I cant stay with one wife for to long and I was the only child of hera and Zeus. My father Zeus didn’t like me from the minuet I was born he never liked me. I had a secret relationship with Aphrodite, she was currently married to the ugly Hephaestus. He was the ugliest god ever and he got married to the prettiest!? I had a lot of kids. But I didn’t like most of them, they aggravated me! My roman name is mars because I am also the god of mars. Well that’s pretty much it so bye.

Ares in Greek mythology will be best understood if we compare it with that of other divinities who are likewise in some way connected with war. • Athena represents thoughtfulness and wisdom in the affairs of war and protects men and their habitations during its ravages. • Ares on the other hand is nothing but the personification of bold force and strength and not so much the god of war as of its tumult confusion and horrors.

  9. Ares was brave and strong but he was also argumentative impulsive bloodthirsty and destructive. • In conflicts he chose sides randomly and sometimes even changed sides in the middle of the war. • He simply took pleasure in the bloodshed slaughter and wanton destruction of war
