  1. Winson Tang Discusses Gene Therapy As a scientist and physician in California, Winson Tang spends much of his time conducting research on the methods of gene therapy. Gene therapy involves the therapeutic delivery of nucleic acid polymers into a patient’s cells either ex-vivo or in-vivo. This new treatment paradigm renders much debate, yet demonstrates true life-saving possibilities for patients who are suffering from illness and disease. The idea of gene therapy is not new, as scientists and clinicians have been working in this field for many years. The first therapeutic use of gene transfer as well as the first direct insertion of human DNA into the nuclear genome was performed by French Anderson in September 1990.

  2. Winson Tang Drug Development Research Drug development is a scientific discipline that Dr. Winson Tang follows closely. This process, which brings a new pharmaceutical drug to market after the positive identification of a lead compound, is how all medicines and pharmaceuticals become available to the public. Before this can happen, many trials and tests are run, including trials on microorganisms, animals, and humans. For many nations, this also means that the new drug has received regulatory approval from whichever governing bodies dictate their safety in that region. Unfortunately, there is no way to assess the validity of the costs that are set forth by the pharmaceutical companies. The claim that drugsmay cost billions of dollars is often difficult to prove.

  3. Winson Tang Earned a Top Education Before Dr. Winson Tang was able to begin his career as a physician and scientist, he had to attain a top education. While he was born in Hong Kong, he and his family immigrated to the United States when he was seven years old. After moving to Garden City, New York in 1967, he spent his elementary and secondary education years in the small town. Upon graduating from Garden City High School, Dr.Tang was admitted to Tufts University in 1974. Within four years, he received a combined Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Chemistry while playing on the varsity lacrosse team. He also had the distinction of graduating Magma Cum Laude.

  4. Winson Tang Served as a Team Leader for Amgen From September of 1999 until August of 2000, Dr. Winson Tang served as a Clinical Studies Management Team Leader for Amgen in Thousand Oaks, California. In this role he was instrumental in filing the BLA and MAA for the drug Aranesp. He also handled the clinical Phases III and IV global development programs for Aranesp for the company. While working for the Thousand Oaks, California branch of Amgen Inc. in 1999, Dr. Winson Tang gained invaluable experience as a manager and team leader. He led a team that encompassed the function of nearly twenty different professionals in the fields of clinical research, regulatory functions, data management, marketing, and biostatistics.
