Mission of the Library Media Program • Through the use of specialized communication and equipment, the Regional School Media Program will enable sensory impaired students to become information literate and effective readers. The program will provide educational and technological opportunities to students and staff in keeping with their specific communication needs.

  3. What types of specialized communication and equipment? • CCTV’s • Braillewriters • Abaci • Special Texts • Zoomtext Software • Sign Language

  4. Alabama Instructional Resource Center for the Blind (AIRCB) • AIRCB provides braille/large print texts and other equipment for use with the visually impaired.

  5. What types of technological opportunities? • Advances in digital technology have opened up a whole new world of communication to deaf/hearing impaired individuals. • The ability to access, evaluate, and use information for educational and personal needs is the central goal of our media program.

  6. Our media collection supports and reflects curriculum standards. • Collaborative lesson planning • Collaborative media collection development
