  4. BUSINESS CONCEPT • IT Norrbotten offers • Europe´s biggest open high-speed fibre-based network to business and the public services • Which increases the range of services and contributes to an economic growth and development at the region

  5. PROGRAM FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT • Economic growth depends on well-developed broadband infrastructure • Information society for all through the continued expansion of broadband network • The basic requirement for strengthening competitiveness and prosperity in Norrbotten

  6. ROLE • To administrate and develop the regional, fibre optic communication network • To stimulate the usage of the network for business and public sector so that broad range of services will be created • To act as a catalyst for the regional development

  7. A JOINT IP NETWORK • A common network for 5 hospitals, 33 health centres and 34 dental clinics • A common network for the 14 municipalities at the region

COORDINATED DISCHARGE PLANNING • For patients that leave institutional care from the hospital • Often three organisations involved: • The care provider and district nurse from the municipality • The nurse and specialist from the hospital • The nurse and district nurse from the primary health centre. • Long distances / a lot of travelling time • Often also the relatives participate at these meetings

NATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING • Virtual meetings for learning and practising the native language • Coordination of mother-tongue teaching between municipalities • To create sufficiently large groups • To hire qualified teachers for all languages • Children in the county are entitled to mother tongue lessons in almost 100 different languages.
