IP-HDTV problems over ADSL network • High bandwidth required (>18 Mb/s) • High QoS • Congestion at user connection when the downstream ADSL bandwidth is low (<30 Mb/s) • As a consequence: • Only ADSL2+, VDSL and VDSL2 compatible with HDTV • In case of ADSL2+ packet filter is required at the edge node. • We propose a DiffServ approach to mark the IP-HDTV packets (at edge node) to guarantee the client QoS

  8. Conclusions • IP-HDTV is the bottleneck for ADSLx • IP-HDTV will drive fibre installation in access network • At least VDLS (VDLS2) is required • For ADSL2+ QoS technique are required
