  1. Domaine Didier Dagueneau THE SIGNATURE OF FLINT https://winechain.co/

  2. Our Story In the pantheon of great winemakers who have left their mark not only on their appellation but also on a whole region and generation, Didier Dagueneau holds an excellent place. This iconic figure of the Loire created his estate barely 40 years ago, but his work quickly gained international recognition among wine lovers. Dagueneau was the author of pure and crystalline Sauvignon Blancs, and he developed an authentic signature that has been maintained by his son, Louis-Benjamin, since his accidental death in 2008.

  3. History of the Didier Dagueneau Estate

  4. Star of the Loire It was in 1982 that Didier Dagueneau, son of winemakers, decided to create his own estate in Saint-Andelain, in the Nièvre department, on the border of Cher. We are in the land of Pouilly-sur-Loire, the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Inspired by Jayer's obsession with terroir, Dagueneau believed that the Loire had nothing to envy to Burgundy in terms of great terroirs, and he decided to turn his back on the notion of blending to sign parcel selections that express each time a different facet of the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. The quest for the right maturity, the work on selected yeasts in the vineyard, and the science of meticulous aging all contributed to making Didier Dagueneau a "star" winemaker of the Loire

  5. Following in his father's footstep In 2008, Didier Dagueneau tragically died in a plane crash at the age of 52. He left his son, Louis-Benjamin, to take up the torch. After learning from other highly reputed winemakers such as François Chidaine in Montlouis or Olivier Jullien in Languedoc, Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau cultivates the same philosophy as his father, one that does not confine itself to any particular school of thought (the estate is run organically without seeking certification) and authorizes all experiments.

  6. The Wines of Domaine Didier Dagueneau

  7. The Dagueneau estate produces seven wines, mainly in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation (although Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau has chosen to remove his wines from the AOC and classify them as Vin de France for the past few years), but also ventures to the other side of the Loire, to Sancerre, for a cuvée called "Le Mont Damné," which is no less impressive than the greatest stars of the appellation. However, it is around Pouilly-sur-Loire that the heart of the family vineyard beats: the cuvée "Blanc etc.," formerly known as "Blanc Fumé de Pouilly," is a blend of four parcels and an ideal introduction to the style of the house. But it is the emblematic single- vineyard cuvées of the estate that win over the faithful.
