  2. The muscular system • In the muscular system there are three organs that we housed. • There is the voluntary muscles • There is the involuntary muscles • There is the tendons

  3. Muscular System Diagram

  4. Voluntary Muscles • Voluntary muscles are the muscles that allow you to run walk and move. • You need to be conscience for the muscles to move. • These muscles are made of tiny strand like fibers. • The muscles most commonly used as an example for voluntary muscles are the biceps and triceps.

  5. Involuntary Muscles • I am the involuntary muscles. • My job in my system is to do the actions that you don’t need to think about. • Other organs that I work with are the heart and eyes. The heart is an involuntary muscle

  6. What are tendons • They cushion the bone and swell when hit • Tendons are tightly wrapped around a bone. • They can be thick, thin, long, or short. • They are located in the knee, hip, and leg.

  7. Diseases • Our system is susceptible to a wide variety of diseases • Some are Muscular Dystrophy, Soft tissue Sarcoma, and Bursitis. • These disease can be extremely harmful to our system so we ask that you take care of us since we are so important.

  8. Fun facts • There is muscles in the root of your hair. • The hardest working muscle is in your eye. • It is harder to frown than smile • The biggest muscle is the Gluteus Maximus.

  9. Why you need the muscular system • In conclusion without us you would not be able to do daily activities. • With out tendons then bones will break easier • With out involuntary muscles you would not be able to live because your heart would not be pumping blood through your body nor would your lungs be able to pump air • And lastly with out the voluntary muscles there would be a lack of energy because you can not bring food to your body.

  10. Questions Anybody ? • We have explained this system as well as we can but if there are any questions ask now.

  11. Thank you • We appreciate your time even though you are being forced to watch. We hoped you enjoyed it but if you didn’t there is no refund for your time.

  12. Resources • The Muscular System/ Alvin, Virginia, and Robert Silverstein/twenty first century books/1994 • How our muscles work/Victoria Avila/New York/1995/Chelsea House Publishers
