  2. House Used To Designate Families. • ACTS 10:2 • “a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.” • HEB 11:7 • “By faith Noah, being warned {of God} concerning things not seen as yet, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” • LUKE 1:27 • “to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.”

  6. All Christians Are Children of God. • Sons and heirs. • Romans 8:15‑16 • “For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:” • GAL 4:7 • “So that thou art no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” • Galatians 3:26‑27 • “For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ.”

  7. All Christians Are Children of God. • Either Children of God or children of the Devil • 1John 3:10 …. “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” • Church of God the Father • 1THESS 1:1 ….. “Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.” • THUS…….. • All God's children are in God's family. • God's family is the church • Therefore all God's children are in the church.

  8. Blessedness Of This Relationship: • Approach to God as Father • Matthew 6:6‑9 • “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee. And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” • Christ is our Great High Priest • HEB 4:14 • “Having then a great high priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” • HEB 10:21 • “and {having} a great priest over the house of God;”

  9. Blessedness Of This Relationship: • Holy Spirit to lead and guide us: • ROM 8:14 …. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” • Receive the Holy Spirit because we are sons • Gal 4:6 …. “And because ye are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” • To walk by Spirit • GAL 5:16 ….. “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” • Spirit is the Truth • JOH 1:17 …. “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” • 1JO 5:7 ….. “And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth.”

  10. Blessedness Of This Relationship: • God's Fatherly Provision • ROM 8:32 ….. “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?” • JAM 1:17….. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning.” • God's Fatherly Correction. • Hebrews 12:4‑11 ….. “Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin: and ye have forgotten the exhortation which reasoneth with you as with sons, My son, regard not lightly the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when thou art reproved of him; For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, And scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. It is for chastening that ye endure; God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is there whom {his} father chasteneth not?”

  11. Blessedness Of This Relationship: • God's Fatherly Protection. • Philippians 4:5‑7 …. “Let your forbearance be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus” • God's Ever Present Love. • 1John 3:1 ….. “Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and {such} we are. For this cause the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” • Romans 8:38‑39

  12. Blessedness Of This Relationship: • Heirs of God • ROM 8:17 ….. “and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with {him}, that we may be also glorified with {him}.” • GAL 3:29 ….. “And if ye are Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, heirs according to promise.” • 1Peter 1:3‑5 ….. “Blessed {be} the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

  13. This Relationship Demands: • Separation from the world. • 1John 2:15‑16 …. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” • Obedient as Children • 1John 3:10 …. “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”

  14. This Relationship Demands: • Walk not after flesh. • 1John 1:6‑7 ….. “If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” • Wear family name. • Acts 4:11‑12 …..”He is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner. And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.

  15. This Relationship Demands: • Love our Brethren. • 1John 4:7 …. “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God.” • 1John 4:20‑21 …. “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, cannot love God whom he hath not seen. And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also.” • 1John 3:13‑19 …. “Marvel not, brethren, if the world hateth you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath the world's goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him? {My} Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth. Hereby shall we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before him: “

  16. How We Become Children of God. • By being born again. - John 3:3‑5 • By faith and baptism. - Galatians 3:26‑27 • By obedience to His word. - 1Peter 1:22‑23 • By Faithfullness • 2Peter 2:20‑22 ….. “For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first. For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.” • HEB 3:6 ….. “but Christ as a son, over his house; whose house are we, if we hold fast our boldness and the glorying of our hope firm unto the end.”
