  3. Possible influential changes on a time-line • Pilot study 2006/7 suggests clinical approach & change smokefree policy • Introduction of EBI training 2007 • Introduction of house surgeon training 2007 • HDC 2007 report recommends reviewing S/F policy

  4. Possible influential changes on a time-line • Change to smokefree policy 2007-2008, from business to clinical • Quit Cards available from Feb 2008 • Mental Health Unit going smokefree March 2008 • Health Target 5 2009

  6. Discussion • Results are not limited to Hutt Hospital • Potential reach across all DHBs • Health Target 5 + has a good rationale + has contributed to the culture of smoking cessation - can be viewed somewhat cynically by clinicians
