Leadership Plan

Purpose: To assure leadership is adequately trained and knowledgeable on ISM offerings, policies, and preferred methodologies and to assure adequate succession planning is in place.

Leadership Plan

  • Current officers will mentor elected officers for a period of two months post elections.

  • Affiliate leadership will encourage participation at ISM Leadership training at the annual ISM Conferences.

  • All presidents will have or will attend ISM Leadership training prior to or during the course of their tenure.

  • Leaders will canvas for new officers as part of affiliate networking, first to fulfill their own position, and then to fill other positions within the board.

  • The leadership will take care to be open and receptive to adding diversity and ideas and encourage new participants and new approaches while avoiding recycling of existing officers.

  • Young members will be encouraged to bring “fresh” ideas in keeping with trying to keep the organization with a broad spectrum.

  • At least one of our educational sessions will be geared toward membership and will include participation by those who have been to leadership training to cross-pollinate information gained at the ISM Leadership training during the Annual Conference.

  • An Executive Sponsor position will be filled to offer “C-Suite” ideas to the Board of Directors.

  • Past-Presidents will be encouraged to mentor and help the Board of Directors as needed.

  • Opportunities to volunteer for committees will be made available so that more junior or in-experienced professionals have a chance to be groomed for future positions.
