  2. Timeline 1839-1931 At age 10 Otto was sent to live with his Uncle but they never found him in Otto died in Pasadena, California in June 24, Otto built the road from Ouray to Ironton in Otto’s parents died when he 2 years old in Otto Mears was born in 1841. 1839. 1883. 1931. 1849.

  3. Importance • Otto Mears was famous for building the Rio Grande South western rail road. • Mears also built The Million Dollar Highway. • Also, he built the road that was from Ouray to Silverton.

  4. Risk • A risk that Otto took was delivering mail in the snow a long ways.

  5. Consequence • The consequence may have been that he froze to death.

  6. Risk • Otto Mears left Colorado at age 70.

  7. Consequences • He may passed out while driving or passed out while sleeping.

  8. Risk • Otto Mears built a tool booth over a 580 feet above a canyon in south western Colorado.

  9. Consequence • Otto may have fallen off the canyon while building the toll booth.

  10. Personal Connection • I would not have taken the risks that Otto Mears took because I would not like to be killed by doing dangerous things. • Otto Mears did do the right thing because there would not be the Million Dollar Highway.
