  1. How should you understand these Bible quotes ? What is it called when someone takes these quotes at face value ie to mean exactly what the words say? Which interpretations (in yellow) are taking it literally? • 1. “God created the world in seven days….and saw that it was good” Genesis Ch. 1. This means that the Bible explains how the world was made. • 2. “And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.” Jesus saying, in Mt 5:30. This means I should amputate my hand if I ever steal anything. • 3. “A woman dishonours her head if she prays or prophesies without a covering on her head, for this is the same as shaving her head”. 1 Cor 11:5. This means that all women should always wear a veil in Church. How could these quotes COULD be interpreted, in a NON-literal way ? • Open your envelope. Use the information in it to explain how these quotes could be interpreted non-literally. ***Illustrate your answers.

This person can only understand a Bible quote literally.. you can’t see how words can mean something other than they say… It’s not science: The Bible not about HOW things are made. The Point is.... The Bible teaches describes exactly how the world was made in a scientific way. Eg “God created the world in seven days….and saw that it was good” Gen1.
