HIGH SCHOOL GRAD REQUIREMENTS • 4 years English • 3 years Social Science ( World History or European History, US History, and Govt./Econ) • 2 years math (must include Algebra 1) • 2 years science ( 1year Physical Science and 1 year Biological) • 2 years Physical Education • 1 year Practical Art (requirement waived if three years of foreign language are completed) • 1 year Fine Art • 1 year Health / Careers • Additional credits as needed to complete a total of 230 credits. • Service learning : 10 hours • CAHSEE Math and English

Earning College Credits at JBHS Juniors and Seniors can take community college classes while in high school – free tuition *Must have course approved by JBHS prior to taking the course We also offer 3 community college classes on our JBHS campus after school. Students earn 10 high school credits per semester and 3 college units per semester. *Personal Development (1 semester class) *ASL (American Sign Language) (1 year class) *Speech (1 semester class)

COLLEGE PREP TIMELINE • Junior year: • Register and take PSAT in October • Continue with rigorous academic and extracurricular schedule • Register for the SAT (winter test dates: Jan 26th and March 1st) or ACT • Meet with counselor to discuss coursework, options for college • Register for the SAT again (spring test dates: May 3rd and June 7th ) or ACT Visit Universities and Colleges of interest • Attend Parent College Night and Financial Aid information sessions • Senior year: • Register for a full, rigorous academic and extracurricular schedule • Register for SAT/ACT if needed • Meet with counselor for information about college applications and deadlines • Apply to suggested “Reach” “Target” and “Safety” schools within deadlines for desired admission process
